FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We cannot guarantee what your bill from the utility company will be after going solar, but will provide you the absolute best estimate possible.  We will show you how much energy you’ll be able to offset with the solar panel installation (we always strive for 100%).  We also know how much the base connection costs are for Florida utility providers and can usually estimate costs to within a half a percentage point.  We only factor in current consumption patterns and do not factor in any adjustments for future energy usage changes, like installing a pool or a hot tub on your property.  If that is something within your future plans, we can plan for it when designing your system.

Yes. You will continue receiving a bill from your utility company for their standard connection charge any power needs not supplied by your solar system. You will receive a separate bill for your solar from the finance company utilized for your loan.

Yes, and at full credit with none of the electrical losses associated with battery storage. Thanks to Florida’s net-metering law, your new bidirectional smart meter records all the energy you have put back on the grid from the panels from January 1st of each year. During the night and other periods where you need to draw more power than is available through the panels, you draw directly on the energy “stored” on your meter in Kilowatt-hours.

No. You don’t need batteries because you’ll still have electricity as a power source.

If your solar panel overproduces energy, it’s possible you’ll get a check from your provider at the end of the year. Florida has annual net metering, meaning any overages will be calculated yearly.  We strive for a 100% offset of your electricity usage with solar.  If you were to find yourself with an overage at the end of the year, the compensation for that electricity will only be at wholesale rates, not retail rates.  That’s the exact reason we strive for 100% offset and not over.
